Do I have to attend a timeshare presentation?
Because you have rented directly from a timeshare owner, you will have no obligation
to attend any type of developer sales presentation. However, while you are at the resort you may be offered an incentive if
you agree to a tour of the property. If you have an interest in buying an ownership, it may be a good idea to take a tour to learn
as much as possible about the timeshare program. Always contact your assigned agent before making a purchase however, to determine
if you can get the same week on the resale market for thousands less than the developer price. In many cases, the same owner who rented
to you may also be listed for sale.
How do I know I’ll have a reservation when I show up at the resort?
When using the Progressive
Real Estate Agency to secure your timeshare rental, your assigned agent will always confirm your reservation prior to your arrival
at the resort and will send you a written reservation confirmation prior to your travel dates. We will ensure that the usage has been
properly transferred to your name by forwarding the signed rental contract and owner's release form as needed. In addition
your agent will always double check your reservation with the front desk, and will call you with any other specific check in procedures
that are required.
How is my money protected?
As a licensed real estate brokerage, we deposit all funds into an escrow account.
Unless otherwise specified in the rental contract, the owner's rental proceeds are not released until after your check in date. This
ensures that your funds are protected throughout the rental transaction!
What do I need to bring with me to be able to check
in?
Your assigned agent will send you a written reservation confirmation that comes directly from the resort, or will provide the owner’s
signed release form authorizing you to use the timeshare. This documentation will always include the owner's name, so that if
needed the resort will be able to identify and contact the timeshare owner. All resorts will require a valid photo id, and most
will require a major credit card at check in to cover incidentals and room charges. Some resorts will also accept a cash deposit.
If you do not have a major credit card, inform your assigned agent so that another form of damage deposit can be obtained prior to
check in. Be aware that the resort will normally place a hold for a specific dollar amount on your credit card, and this amount can
vary from resort to resort. If this is a concern, speak with your agent to determine how much your resort will require.
If I
decide to buy the week I rented, can I use the rent I paid towards a purchase?
If you renting so that you can try before you buy, make
sure that your assigned agent is aware of your interest to purchase. In many cases, we can negotiate a credit for your rental payment
that can be used towards the purchase and include this language as a special clause in your contract.
